According to the Boating and Waterways office in Tallahassee, there were 80 boating-related deaths in Florida in 2005.

To make sure local boaters think safety first, a forum is scheduled for this weekend at the Bass Pro Shops in Destin.
Operation Boating Safety runs from 10 to 11 a.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.
The Okaloosa County sheriff’s office, Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission, Coast Guard, and Coast Guard auxiliary are holding the event dedicated to boating safety and education.
Discussions will include what you’re required to have on board, boating under the influence laws and new fishing regulations.
