Gov. Bob Riley says the search has begun to fill two vacancies on the Auburn University board of trustees.
The vacancies occurred because of the death of trustee Jimmy Samford last month and Ed Richardson's resignation as state superintendent of education to become Auburn's interim president.
Alabama's constitution requires that Samford's replacement come from Lee County, where Auburn's main campus is located, but Richardson's replacement can come from anywhere.
Richardson said his vacant seat would provide an opportunity for the trustee selection committee to pick an Auburn graduate who has risen to the top of a national corporation.
Riley, who heads the Auburn trustee selection committee, said people wishing to be considered for the vacancies should submit information to: Auburn University Trustee Selection Committee, Attention: Grant Davis, 105 Samford Hall, Auburn University, Auburn, AL 36849
