Uncle Sam is still backing Dothan’s I-10 Connector project.
Republican Alabama Senator Richard Shelby has announced that the Senate Appropriations Committee earmarked $8 million for the project this year.
The money will be used to pay for environmental impact studies and preliminary design work.
The connector would link highway 231 North of Dothan with Interstate 10 in the Florida Panhandle.
Senator Shelby says Alabama will get about $600 million in highway funds from Washington this year, $40 million more than last year.
