There is bad news for some Florida homeowners: insurance rates are expected to go up even more than they already have.
The blame is placed on Katrina and several other hurricanes that struck Florida in less than two-years.
Representative Don Brown of DeFuniak Springs has been one of the key lawmakers in Tallahassee trying to iron out a compromise between the state and the insurance industry.
He says there are no easy answers and people will wind-up having to pay more. Homeowners insurance in Mississippi and Louisiana has also doubled and even tripled.
In some cases, companies have even cancelled policies.
