Enterprise city council held a public forum for residents to voice their views on zoning requirements.
Several people voiced fear about the possibility of urban sprawl and uncontrolled growth, a trend prevalent in central and south Florida.
Those communities are dotted by strip malls and residential communities adjacent to each other.
A Birmingham consulting firm is working with city officials to come up with a zoning ordinance.
"What we find in communities across Alabama is that there is resistance to change. But that's what this planning process is all about, how do we cope with these changes," said Darrell Meyer of K.P.S. Group.
An updated zoning ordinance will be discussed during the council's February 27th meeting.
