Adelphia Cable Rate Increase

In the same week that Adelphia Cable declared bankruptcy proceedings in Washington, the company is also placing a $4 increase on its Enterprise customers.

On Sept. 1, Adelphia Cable will increase rates by $4 a month for its Enterprise customers. Basic service will go from $33.95 to $37.95. Adelphia Corporation recently declared national bankruptcy proceedings. Enterprise Mayor Tim Alford is "infuriated."

An Adelphia technician said it’s a good company and he hopes to satisfy Alford's concerns. But on Tuesday night, the city council unanimously approved a motion for the mayor to start negotiating with other cable companies to serve the city.

Adelphia has been Enterprise's only cable provider since 1995.
