Church Arrest

Dothan police say a church secretary has confessed to stealing more than $40,000 from her employer.

Charlotte M. Taylor was arrested Monday and charged with first-degree theft of property. She has been released from the Dothan City Jail on a $10,000 bond.

Authorities say Taylor stole about $41,000 from Selma Baptist Church where she was one of the people authorized to write church checks.

Police say she used some of the money to pay a credit card bill she incurred while on vacation at Disney World.

Police began investigating Taylor in November when the church finance committee noticed discrepancies in its books, and when other authorized signers discovered their names on checks they never signed.
