Accident on Ross Clark Circle

A Houston County man is still in critical condition after an afternoon accident on Ross Clark Circle Thursday.

The wreck happened just after 2 p.m. in the 700 Block of the Ross Clark Circle.

A Ford Ranger pickup was pulling out of a service station when he crossed one lane of the Circle and struck a passing tractor-trailer truck.

Police said the driver's vision was blocked by another truck turning into the station.

The small truck was spun around and flipped over on its side. Eighty-year-old Kirmon Godfrey of Pansey was seriously injured including having one of his hands almost severed.

Godfrey was taken to the Southeast Alabama Medical Center in critical condition. The truck driver, from Union Springs, Alabama, was not injured.
