A couple of times this week, the mercury dipped below the freezing mark across Florida’s Gulf Coast. For the homeless, the frigid temperatures pose a real danger and the Panama City Rescue Mission has seen a record number of people looking to get out of the cold.
Nightly church services takes place inside the chapel of the Panama City Rescue Mission with the dorms filled to capacity, more than three-dozen homeless folks will sleep inside the chapel. The mission is the largest such facility between Tallahassee to Pensacola.
With subfreezing temperatures, having a place to stay can mean the difference between life, and death and the mission does not turn anyone away:
