SANFORD, Fla. (AP) - An animal shelter in Seminole County will be closed Thursday because of a fire that killed dozens of animals.

The blaze at Seminole County Animal Services in Sanford killed 32 cats and seven dogs. Firefighters were able to save hundreds of other animals, including a dog that had already been adopted and was waiting to be picked up by its new owner.

Investigators say an electric clothes dryer caused the fire.
