Fatal Accidents

Separate traffic accidents in the Wiregrass yesterday left three-people dead.

A head-on collision between a van and a motorcycle near Dothan claimed two lives.

The accident happened around 6 a.m. Tuesday morning on Denton Road about a mile from the Dothan Regional Airport.

Forty-five-year-old David Christopher Lurie of Midland City was on a motorcycle and 57-year-old Riley James Reynolds of Dothan was the driving a van when both vehicles slammed into each other. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.

About this same time, a one-vehicle accident claimed the life of a Pike County woman.

Troopers say 39-year-old Nellie Woods of Troy died when her car plunged off a bridge into a creek in Barbour County on Highway 239 about four miles North of Clayton.

The cause of that accident also remains under investigation.
