Mosquito Spraying

The city of Dothan is stepping up efforts to get rid of mosquitoes and the diseases they carry.

A fourth spraying truck has been added and another is on order for next year. The new trucks put out an aerosol mist instead of the familiar smoke screen. But some of the old fogging machines will still be used.

Officials said one third of Dothan will be sprayed twice a week on a regular basis.

Dothan's environmental services department has also identified more than 100 potential mosquito breeding sites around the circle city.

These locations are treated on a monthly basis with a special chemical that keeps mosquito larvae from maturing.
