Fairhope Beaches

Fairhope beaches have been closed because of high bacteria levels in Mobile Bay.

City officials blame the bacteria on pollution and animal fecal matter being brought in by storm water.

An advisory is now in affect. The public is being asked not to swim or fish in the water near the Fairhope Pier until bacteria levels decrease.

According to Baldwin County Health Department workers, sewer spills have not added to the high pollution levels.
