An NAACP representative claims excessive force was used on a black Hartford resident.
Slocomb resident Tom Staples is Geneva County's NAACP chairman.
At a recent meeting of the Hartford council, he alleged police used excessive force last month when Rory Snell was stopped by police, reportedly for intoxication.
Staples said the routine stop quickly escalated. However, the allegation has been denied by Police Chief Greg Adams.
Because of the charges of public intoxication and resisting arrest against Snell, city officials wouldn't comment on the allegations.
But Staples said he'll continue to monitor any additional harassment complaints.
