Weekend Robbery

The Houston County Sheriff's Department is asking for help from the public in locating a Cottonwood man wanted for questioning in connection with a weekend robbery.

Deputies are looking for 32-year-old Edward Powell. Powell has not been charged, but is wanted for questioning in the robbery of another Cottonwood resident.

The victim said a man flagged down his vehicle asking for a ride home. Once in the car, the man struck the driver in the face and began choking him, then fled with his wallet.

Deputies spotted Powell Sunday but he escaped from them by fleeing into the woods.

Anyone with information on Powell's whereabouts should contact the Houston County Sheriff's Department 334-677-4808 or Crimestoppers 334-793-7000.
