At the start of the New Year, the Echo Volunteer Rescue Squad is asking the public for help.
Volunteers say it takes about $19,000 to keep the community's two ambulances running each year. And they say that requires public support.
Echo almost lost the service last spring because of a lack of volunteers and funding. But after restructuring they say the service is going strong. And volunteers are busy responding to calls and saving lives.
Volunteers respond to emergencies in Echo and neighboring communities in rural Northern Dale County.
