An elected Wiregrass official is urging his colleagues to help the elderly.
Geneva Councilman John Hughes wants city sanitation crews to pick-up trash cans from behind the homes of the physically-disabled and elderly.
Crews currently will only pick-up from those customers who have their cans alongside the road.
Hughes says he has listened to several complaints from the elderly and their families concerning trash pick-up.
"It’s my thought to help those unable, or don't have someone to do so for them, to make provisions to bring-up help for them," said Hughes.
The trash pick-up proposal is expected to be discussed during an upcoming Geneva City Council workshop session.
