Law enforcement officials from Houston County are joining forces to provide the best protection for officers and citizens.
Houston County Sheriff Andy Hughes, along with Dothan’s Police Chief John Powell spearheaded the conference.
Monday's meeting was to open communication between departments and discuss areas of improvement.
Houston County Chief Deputy Donald Valenza says with the recent rash of robberies in the Wiregrass, cooperation among surrounding police departments is vital.
“It's always best to have all the municipalities involved and working together, particularly when crime happens in our area. We have more resources to work with than a lot of the other small agencies do,” said Lt. Valenza.
During Monday’s conference Sheriff Hughes also talked about the installation of new radio systems, officer safety, and the addition of a K-9 unit.
