BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Two veteran Red Cross volunteers from Jefferson County are in central Florida Monday to provide assistance to citizens affected by deadly tornadoes Friday morning.
Theodore Childress and Jean Piersol drove the Red Cross Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) to provide mass care relief. They left Saturday morning.
Twenty people were killed and hundreds of homes destroyed when severe thunderstorms and at least three tornadoes roared through the area.
The Birmingham chapter has been providing assistance for several years to many local and national disasters.
