The City of Troy welcomes a new fire chief, Thomas Outlaw. He was sworn in Wednesday at Troy’s City Hall.
The former fire chief, Ray Rhodes, retired serving nearly 40 years with the department.
Chief Outlaw says he plan on implementing pre-fire planning, targeting the students at the area schools and university, but he says he knows he will have big shoes to fill.
“We'll make changes. Any time you have a new person coming, you have changes. We'll look at all of that, reevaluate where we've been in the past, where we're going in the future,” said Chief Outlaw.
Outlaw was chosen over nine other applicants by the Troy City council. He has been working to make the transition with former Chief Ray Rhod.
