A foundation that is part of Picerne Military Housing is giving nearly a half-million dollars in scholarships and grant money to military families across the country.
Three people at Fort Rucker were honored.
Michelle Fetzer and Kathryn Hild each received a $5,000 dollar educational grant and an 18-year-old Northview High School student was awarded a $40,000 dollar college scholarship.
The students were evaluated on their grade-point-average, extra-curricular activities, financial need and personal essays.
"My essay was about how being in the military has affected my life and about everything that being in the military has done for me. So I just wrote about everything we've been involved in and all the things we've seen and got to do and experienced," said Brittany Chretian.
Our family for Families First Foundation is accepting applications for scholarships and grants to be awarded this summer.
You can pick up an application at Fort Rucker or download one at www.ourfamilyforfamiliesfirst.org.
