Holmes County Mural

A four-by-eight foot mural was unveiled this week in Holmes County.

Bonifay artist, Larry Polston, says he wanted to capture on canvas the true history of his hometown.

Polston was contracted by the Holmes County clerk of court's office to do the work.

In the heart of the painting is the Old Eureka Hotel.

It was located downtown along Waukesha Street before being demolished in the mid-1970.

The horses and cowboys commerate the annual northwest Florida rodeo held the first weekend in October.

“I painted the old eureka hotel which was built around 1907 and bulldozed down in the mid-1970's and I incorporated the rodeo which is important in Bonifay... putting them both together," said Polston

The mural is on display inside the Holmes County clerk of court's office.
