Auburn University's faculty senate has discussed calling for the resignation of President William Walker.
The senate sent a clear message to Walker that they are not happy with his performance.
Before Thursday’s vote, President Walker explained the school's current academic probation problems and why he made a secret recruiting trip to Kentucky to interview a head football coach candidate.
Auburn received bad news earlier this week when the school was placed on probation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, or SACS.
Mr. Walker's current contract ends with the 2005 graduating class.
Some faculty members would like to see him leave right away, but some felt that they did not need to change leadership during the SACS turmoil.
Even Walker himself admitted at the press conference that the time had come to start the search for a new president.
