Testimony is underway in the murder trial of a Florida man accused of killing his elderly landlord.
Forty-seven-year-old Everett Newcomb was arrested in May of last year.
That was two days after 80-year-old Areline Payne was found dead in her home.
Family members say she had been beaten and stabbed to death.
Investigators say Newcomb reported the crime, but claimed the woman was dead when he found her.
A jury was selected to hear the case Monday.
A verdict is expected later this week.
Newcomb could be sentenced to life in prison if he's convicted.
