Lightning Kills Man

A Pike County man is dead after being struck by lightning Monday afternoon.

Eighteen-year-old Jason Carter was hit by lightning while he was cutting grass at Sanders Farm on Blindjack Road.

Police said that lightning apparently struck a large tree near where Carter was working. Carter was about 12 feet from the tree when the lightning struck.

Employees at Sanders' Farm tried to revive him until the ambulance arrived.

Carter was taken to the Edge Regional Medical Center Emergency Room, but further attempts to revive him were not successful.
