Alabama state troopers say at least five people were killed in roadway accidents over the weekend.

The death toll includes a 15-year-old Elmore County girl who was struck while jogging on Grier Road Saturday around 5:30 p-m, about two miles north of Wetumpka. Troopers identified the victim as Megan Cook of Wetumpka.

A Tallassee man died Friday night in a single-vehicle wreck on Wire Road. Troopers said 49-year-old Timothy Burgoyne was killed when his vehicle ran off the road and hit a tree.

A single-vehicle accident Sunda night in Mobile County claimed the life of a male driver, whose name was withheld. Authorities said the vehicle ran off Dauphin Island Parkway, hit and tree and caught fire. The accident happened about 6 p-m.

Another deadly wreck, also in Mobile County, killed 20-year-old James Norman on Saturday night. Troopers said the Mobile man was a passenger in a pickup truck that overturned on Tanner Williams Road. Four others in the vehicle were injured.

Troopers also said another fatality occurred in St. Clair County.
