Last summer, Johnston Industries announced it would close its Opp and Micolas mills. The factories have been producing fiber products for eighty-years.
But this week, California based Meriturn Corporation bought the Micolas mill in U.S. bankruptcy court.
That means at least 150 people should continue receiving a paycheck.
Community leaders in Opp are describing it as a very large Christmas gift.
In coming days, Opp Mayor Jerry Boothe expects Meriturn representatives to visit his city and make the formal announcement of the Micolas Mill purchase.
