MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Alabama's unemployment rate rose to 3.6 percent in December. That was up from the record low 3.2 percent unemployment in October and November.
State Industrial Relations Director Phyllis Kennedy says Alabama's rate remains below the comparable national figure of4.5 percent.
For December, the lowest unemployment rates were Shelby County
at two-point-one percent, Baldwin County at two-point-three
percent, and Madison County at two-point-four percent.
The highest rates were Bullock County at eight-point-four
percent, Wilcox County at seven-point-nine percent and Perry County
at seven-point-four percent.
