Teens Sought in Slayings of Two Homeless Men in St. Petersburg

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) - St. Petersburg police are seeking three teens believed to have fatally shot two homeless men in alleys within a square-mile area.

Investigators are trying to identify the three males seen by witnesses walking away briskly after the shootings of David Heath and Jeffery Shultz. Police say robbery was probably the motive in yesterday's shootings.

Heath had an alcohol problem and spent time recently in a detoxification facility. His ex-wife says he had three children and was once a bat boy for the New York Mets.

Relatives say Schultz suffered a serious brain injury years ago and was in and out of drug rehabilitation.

The killings brought fear to St. Petersburg's homeless population, which grew closer in recent weeks after fighting to establish a tent city that was shut down because it violated city codes.
