Christmas arrived a few weeks early for one Northwest Florida law enforcement agency.
Two high-ranking federal drug enforcement administration agents presented the good news Monday.
Holmes County Sheriff Dennis Lee received a $279,000 check.
The money comes through a federal statute that allows agencies to share illegally obtained and seized assets.
In this case, it stems from a traffic stop on I-10 earlier this year.
The $350,000 seized from a vehicle was determined to be drug related.
This was one of the largest such seizures ever recorded in the panhandle.
Sheriff Lee says the money will go toward the purchase of new vehicles for his department, along with other equipment to be used in the war on drugs.
