The Houston County adult day care center, which is run by the state Department of Public Health, is set to shut down in December for financial reasons.
The Wiregrass Rehabilitation Center, which trains and places people with disabilities in the workforce, is trying to save the daycare center.
They’re situated in the same building and some of their clients train by working with the seniors.
The rehabilitation center is asking the county to chip in $20,000 this year and another $20,000 next year to help them take over operation of the facility.
They’re also talking with other cities to try and save four other adult daycare centers here in the Wiregrass.
