The man who was hit by an oncoming vehicle in a Dothan grocery store parking lot has died, and the woman who hit him is charged with murder.
It happened Saturday evening at the Southern Family Markets store on the corner of West Main Street and Ross Clark Circle.
Police say the victim, 60-year old Larry Dowling of Ozark, was returning his grocery cart when a female driver, 24-year old Tabitha Farmer, hit him, driving him into the wall of the store.
The victim's wife was in her vehicle watching as the gruesome scene unfolded.
When police and fire medics arrived on the scene, they found customers of the store providing CPR and other basic first aid to keep the man alive.
“Early indications are that the driver lost consciousness, drove toward the building, hit a pedestrian and pinned him against the vehicle,” said Sgt. Tim Ward of Dothan Police Dept.
The victim was rushed to Flower's Hospital where he was in critical condition and on life support.
He died around noon Sunday.
Farmer was booked for murder in the Houston County Jail on Sunday but has been released on $20,000 bond.
The investigation into this accident continues.
