Alabama Republican Senator Richard Shelby said attack on Iraq is inevitable.

He said it's not a question of if, but when, the U.S. will strike.

He insists pre-emptive U.S. military action is necessary to stop Saddam Hussein from doing "irreparable damage" to Americans.

Shelby said Iraq is developing weapons of mass destruction at multiple sites.

He noted Iraq's ties to Osama bin Laden. But Shelby said he doesn't think the terror leader is in Iraq.
