OZARK, Ala. (AP) - Authorities say an off-duty state trooper was
shot and killed during a domestic dispute at the home of her ex-husband, who then fatally wounded himself.

Department of Public Safety spokesman Dorris Teague said 36-year-old Farrell Scott Jacobs shot 30-year-old Trooper Jennifer Jacobs during an apparent domestic dispute.

Teague said the trooper died on the scene, and Farrell Jacobs died later at a hospital of a head wound.

The shooting occurred last night shortly before 7 pm at the man's home on Highway 123 in Ozark.

Jacobs, who worked out of the Dothan post, was sworn in as a
trooper in June 2006.

The shooting is under investigation by Ozark police, the Dale County Sheriff's office and the Alabama Bureau of Investigation.
