A two-vehicle crash in the Florida Panhandle killed four Alabama residents, two of them from Houston County.
The accident happened around 8 a.m. Saturday.
The Florida Highway Patrol said 17-year-old Jennifer Rogers of Birmingham was driving an SUV that ran out of control on State Highway 79 and collided with another SUV near Esto, Florida Saturday, killing Rogers.
A passenger in her vehicle, 16-year-old Cassie L. Bryan of Prattville was killed and another passenger, 17-year-old Sandra E. Butts, also of Prattville, was airlifted to a Dothan hospital in critical condition.
The other driver, 43-year-old Russell J. Reynolds, a Reserve Officer with the Houston County Sheriff's Department, and his mother, 74-year-old Ila Lee Reynolds, both of Dothan, also were killed.
According to the accident report, all the occupants were wearing seat belts.
A young Dothan girl was among those killed in another traffic accident over the holiday weekend.
The accident happened in Barbour County Thursday morning when two vehicles collided on U.S. Highway 431 and Barbour County Road 79, killing nine-year-old Markecia Sanders of Dothan. Seven others, including the two drivers, were injured.
Another accident killed 24-year-old Jamie Meadows of Dothan when her vehicle ran off Highway 84 and overturned.
That accident happened at about 7:15 Thursday night.
State troopers said the holiday death toll officially ended at midnight Sunday night.
