A mother and her infant child are lucky to be alive after their home caught fire Thursday morning.
Dothan firefighters responded to the call at this house on Jerome Street around 9 o'clock.
The fire completely gutted the back of the house, and severely damaged the front.
It took firefighters about 40-minutes to put out the flames.
Before firefighters arrived on the scene, the mother and child had already been taken to the hospital suffering from smoke inhalation.
