PHENIX CITY, Ala. (AP) - Police in Phenix City believe they have solved a string of east Alabama robberies with the arrests of three men.

Authorities initially thought the trio were responsible for holdups at eight businesses, but it turned out they are prime suspects in other robberies that targeted businesses in four east Alabama cities.

Arrested were 24-year-old James Bryan; 18-year-old Craig Gregory; and 22-year-old Ashley Saylor. All are charged with participating in robberies in Lanett, Auburn, Opelika, and Smiths Station.

Lee County Sheriff's Captain Van Jackson said the search continues for an individual responsible for numerous armed robberies along Interstate 85.
