Project Lifesaver

There's some good news for local Alzheimer’s victims and their families.

The Alzheimer’s Resource Center has purchased new technology that can locate wandering and lost Alzheimer’s patients called “Project Lifesaver.” It’s a tracking device that the Alzheimer’s patient wears around their wrist.

When police are notified about a missing Alzheimer’s person they search for the transmitter with an antennae that can track by ground or in air.

Studies say more than half of Alzheimer’s patients wander and experts warn if they're not found within 24 hours there's a good chance they won't be found alive.

With Project Lifesaver, they are found less than 30 minutes.
