Dothan Mayor Pat Thomas says he's not sure when Attorney General Troy King will give his opinion on the legality of a petition calling for a change in Dothan’s form of government.
City Attorney Len White sent the petition to King last December.
Last week, 2,400 names on the petition were verified as registered voters.
It was the hope of petition leaders and city officials that King would have a decision soon, but it looks as if that won't happen.
“We still don't know the timing. They can't guarantee that they will have us an answer mid-January as we had hoped. As soon as we have an answer it will be released the day after we receive it, whether it's day or not,” said Mayor Thomas.
Mayor Thomas says if King deems the petition legal, there could be a vote on the matter sometime this year.
