A kindergartener is lucky to be alive after a car hit him Tuesday morning on his way to school.
The little boy and his mother were crossing the road near Vernon Elementary.
A car pulled out of the school parking lot and hit the child.
He was taken to the hospital.
Washington County School Superintendent Jerry Tyre says the boy has minor injuries.
School officials say the school normally has a resource officer directing traffic, but he had a death in the family and wasn't there yesterday morning.
No charges have been filed and the investigation is continuing.
