Storms Blamed for Two Deaths Cause Problems in Other States

Tornado watches are up in Alabama, where there's word that one might have hit early Friday morning.

The National Weather Service is looking into whether a tornado touched down in Vernon, Alabama, where several businesses have been
damaged. But there are no reports of injuries. The powerful cold front also brought lightning, hail and heavy rain.

The storms came in from Mississippi, where at least nine people are reported hurt. Damage there includes a mobile home that flipped onto its roof and blocked a road. Cars are also stacked against trees.

Earlier, the same storms killed a woman and a six-year-old girl in Louisiana. Authorities believe a tornado hit yesterday. At least 15 others were hurt and several mobile homes were blown over.
