His lawyer says the man who shot President Reagan is "probably the least dangerous person on the planet."

Barry Levine is trying to persuade a federal judge in Washington to let John Hinckley Junior visit his parents without supervision.

Hinckley was acquitted by reason of insanity of shooting Reagan and three other people. His therapist told the court Monday that unsupervised releases are "appropriate."

The doctor says Hinckley's supervised trips from a Washington hospital to restaurants, bowling alleys and shopping centers have been therapeutic.

The government and Reagan's family oppose the releases. A government lawyer suggests Hinckley has been putting up a false front to try to get released. The hearing continues Tuesday and a decision is expected this week.
