Lockheed Martin Missile System Contract

A major U.S defense system will be built in the Wiregrass area.

Lockheed Martin has been awarded a 619 million dollar contract to begin production of the terminal high altitude area defense weapon system.

Final assembly and testing of production equipment will take place at the Lockheed Martin plant near Troy and Camden, Arkansas.

About 400 employees and sub-contractors are working on the project.

The THAAD Missile System is designed to defend against short to intermediate range ballistic missiles.
