MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - One-hundred and thirty five soldiers assigned to Mobile-based 690th Chemical Company are coming home after a year-long tour of duty in Iraq.
Governor Bob Riley will join soldiers' families and local dignitaries at Friday welcome home ceremony at Fort Whiting Armory on South Broad Street.
A National Guard spokesman in Montgomery said unit conducted security missions for government officials and coalition forces in the Baghdad area.
Members of the 690th already are back on U-S soil. Soldiers are completing necessary paperwork at Camp Shelby, Mississippi, for their return to civilian life.
