Highway 167 Transformed to Four-Lane

Enterprise officials say the New Year is bringing on renewed enthusiasm to four-lane Highway 167 from the city limits to Troy.

The 35-mile, two-lane stretch has seen its share of tragic wrecks over the years.

In 2006, the federal government pumped-in more than $5-million dollars for additional traffic lanes from Highway 167 to Highway 27 South.

With the route stretching to Florida’s Gulf Coast, elected officials in both Florida and Alabama hope future funds will be used to four-lane the highway as an important evacuation route from the beaches in the event of a hurricane.
