Mobile Bay Causeway Complex Expected to Attract Tourists

SPANISH FORT, Ala. (AP) - Alabama is getting close to having a
tourist attraction on the Causeway that connects Mobile and Baldwin
counties. The state conservation department is anticipating a spring opening for an 83-acre complex called Five Rivers - Alabama's Delta Resource Center.

The complex will have a nature center, 90-seat theater, walking trails, picnic shelters, reception hall, gift shop and canoe and kayak landing. Hank Burch of the state conservation department calls it a gateway to the Mobile-Tensaw Delta. Two-thirds of the state's rivers drain through the delta.

Consultants predict the ten million dollar complex will attract between 75,000 and 100,000visitors annually.
