Hanners Pleads Guilty

An accused killer who was scheduled to stand trial next week has changed his plea to guilty.

Scotty Hanners was charged with murder in the September 2000 shooting death of a Houston County man.

Twenty-three-year-old Ross Sawyer was gunned down during a domestic dispute in the backyard of his home in Taylor.

Witnesses identified Hanners as the gunman.

Jury selection was about to begin Thursday when Hanners changed his plea.

Judge Jerry White sentenced Hanners to 40 years in prison.
