The town of Taylor has requested the funding two years in a row, and this year Gov. Riley approved the funding.
The $80,000 grant will allow the recreational trail to install 30 lights and a fence along its half mile trail.
Rep. Joe Caruthers and Sen. Harry Ann Smith were both instrumental in seeking approval for the grant.
“The grant we applied for was to light the walking trail to keep walkers more safe,” said Mayor Joe Napier of Taylor.
The town of Rehobeth also received a grant totaling more than $56,000 to improve its trail.
Both grants will allow the trails to stay open longer and be safer for the public.
