MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - Investigators believe an 11-month-old Fairhope girl may have been the victim of Shaken Baby Syndrome and police are searching for the toddler's father.
Fairhope police say Salaia Miller lapsed into a coma on Christmas Eve and is listed in critical condition at USA Children's and Women's Hospital.
23-year-old Melody White, the baby's mother, told police she left her child alone with 24-year-old Brian Miller.
Authorities said Miller, who already was wanted on a drug charge, left the apartment before paramedics arrived around midnight Saturday. Police are unsure if Miller is eluding them because of the child's injury or because of the felony warrant.
Its unclear if the girl remains in a coma.
