Tax Free Holiday

Georgia's tax free holiday is still in effect and retailers there are gearing up for what they hope is a big weekend.

This Friday and Saturday, shoppers can look for items such as these to be exempt from state and local sales tax.

  • Clothing with a single value of $100 or less per item, that applies to essential clothing and footwear but not to jewelry.

  • Computer equipment and related accessories used for non-business, home or personal use up to $1,500.

  • General school supplies used in the classroom, such as pens, pencils, notebooks and calculators with a single value of $20 or less per item.

  • Children's books with a single value of less than $20 per item.

For more information about Georgia's sales tax holiday, you can visit the Web site for the Georgia Department of Revenue.
